Elise Sheehan is a Melbourne based Jeweller and Object Maker.
Elise's making process is comprised of repetitive actions undertaken in a variety of craft based materials in an effort to discover something new. By continuing to repeat motions, acts or motifs in my work I aim to understand what variations begin to emerge through these repetitions. Pieces or ideas are returned to, added upon and evolved over time.
Largely my practice is anchored in simple shapes and forms. The production, placement and consideration of multiple items or objects is paramount. This emphasis on the arrangement and grouping of work provides me a platform to express a range of ideas related to space, scale, succession and the dualities of internal/external space or light/dark by creating landscapes, tableaux or scenes.
